CASLI / NIC Deliberate Practice: An Introduction

0.2 CEUs, PS

Interpreting is a practice-based profession that requires intentional, ongoing effort to strengthen and refine our skills. Deliberate Practice provides a structured and purposeful approach to skill development, helping interpreters identify areas for growth and apply targeted strategies for improvement. In this workshop, participants will gain an introduction to the principles of Deliberate Practice and explore practical techniques for incorporating these methods into their interpreting work. Through guided discussion and application, attendees will learn how to create meaningful practice routines that support both day-to-day performance and long-term professional growth. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a starting point for implementing Deliberate Practice in their own work. They will be prepared to carry these concepts into the next session, where they will actively apply Deliberate Practice techniques and begin building sustainable habits for continued professional growth and skill development.
