Interpreting for Deaf Witnesses: Courtroom Comm.

0.2 CEUs, PS Legal

This workshop focuses on the complex communication demands interpreters encounter when legal proceedings involve the introduction of evidence and formal objections during testimony. Participants will examine the process attorneys follow when presenting evidence, explore the function and significance of objections during proceedings, and discuss how interpreters can effectively manage the rapid and layered communication exchanges that occur between legal professionals. Special attention will be given to maintaining linguistic accuracy and ensuring Deaf witnesses have equitable access to all communication occurring within the proceeding.
