Interpreting for Deaf Witnesses: Depositions

0.2 CEUs, PS Legal

This workshop introduces participants to the structure and flow of legal depositions involving Deaf witnesses and examines the interpreter’s role within proceedings where an official record is being created. Participants will explore the anatomy of a deposition, gain an understanding of the procedural components involved, and examine why consecutive interpreting is often the most appropriate mode of interpretation in matters of record. The session will focus on promoting accuracy, preserving the integrity of testimony, and understanding the unique responsibilities interpreters hold when facilitating communication in legal settings.

I was impressed with your workshop! Even though I have many years of experience on legal interpreting, I still learned several valuable things from your presentation. That says a lot about the quality of your workshop. I am excited to attend your next two workshops this afternoon. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
