Meaning in Motion: Collaborative Translation Strategies

0.2 CEUs, PS

This interactive workshop explores approaches to working with frozen text within signed language translation environments. Led by Brandon Petty, participants will engage in guided discussion, live practice, and collaborative exploration of translation choices, meaning, audience considerations, and language use. Although many interpreters may not regularly work in formal translation settings, the skills developed through translation work can strengthen overall interpreting practice by encouraging more intentional language analysis, critical thinking, and message development. Through shared discussion and practical application, participants will have opportunities to reflect on different approaches to translation while building confidence in making thoughtful and effective language decisions.
