What Every Educational Interpreter Should Know about IEPs

0.2 CEUs, PS

In this workshop, we will explore what Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs), and 504 plans are and how they impact students with disabilities. We will focus on students who are Dea/hard of hearing and how those plans affect them. Interpreters should be familiar with those plans because they are a crucial part of the team and they know their DHH students the best at times. IEPs, IFSPs, and 504s can become confusing with legal jargon and sections so this workshop will explain the documents in a clear, concise manner. This presentation will help interpreters know how to provide appropriate feedback and observations.
