Application and Analysis of ABC Storytelling

ABC Storytelling, a component of ASL literature, uses handshapes corresponding to the alphabet from A to Z. This workshop introduces ASL linguistic elements like surrogate space, classifiers, and role shifting, offering tools to analyze these features in ABC stories.

Educator, Deaf Performing Artist

Jason Norman

Jason currently is teaching Pre-Kindergarten at ASL and English Lower School (PS 347). His background includes being a full-time ASL instructor at Boston University, an ASL performer, consultant, and workshop presenter.  While living in NYC, he has taught Deaf and hearing students with Deaf parents in ASL Arts and Mathematics at PS 347. He holds a Master's degree in Teaching ASL as a Foreign Language from Columbia University. He also has a Master's degree from McDaniel College in Deaf Education. From 2002 to 2009, Jason worked as an ASL advisor at Juilliard, for the annual theatre interpreting program.
