Decisions, Decisions, Autonomy and Interpreter

0.3 CEUs, PS PPO

Participants will embark on a journey exploring the intricate dynamics of relational autonomy and decision-making within the context of interpreting. Drawing insights from the article "Relational Autonomy" by Jemina Napier and Lorraine Leeson, attendees will delve into the complexities of power imbalances and relational dynamics inherent in the interpreter's role. Through reflective exercises, participants will critically examine ethical dilemmas, navigate challenging scenarios, and enhance their awareness of the ethical responsibilities associated with interpreting. By the end of the workshop, interpreters will be equipped with valuable insights and practical strategies to uphold autonomy, foster effective communication, and navigate ethical decision-making processes in their practice.
