Meet Your Presenter

Lamar Ray

Consultant, Instructor, Certified Interpreter, Trainer and Mentor Lamar was born and raised in Buffalo NY. He attended St. Mary's School for the Deaf in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from RIT, witha Bachelor of Science in multidisciplinary degree in Psychology/Sociology/Deaf Studies. He has an Advanced Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the Canadian Institute of English. Lamar is a Nationally Certified Deaf Interpreter, (CDI) and holds RID certification. For over 20 years Lamar has interpreted and taught in many areas:American Sign Language (ASL) Deaf Studies at SUNY Fredonia NY and SUNY Brockport, NY,Team taught Interpreter Ethics, Medical and Legal Training at Holyoke Community College (HCC), Holyoke, MA. ASL Teacher in Bedford HS, Bedford NH, Interpreter Training & Translation at University of New Hampshire (UNH) Manchester. Lamar co-developed a lecture series from: Deaf in America: Voices from a Culture. His articles on Deaf culture have been published in the national RID Views, and he has been used extensively in many ASL translation projects.
